Honey Bun Cake

This is a very easy and simple yellow cake recipe blended with unsweetened applesauce and sour cream. This recipe yields 21 servings.

Honey Bun Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow or white cake mix
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 egg whites
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Directions

  1. First, combine dry cake mix, egg whites, sour cream and applesauce in a large mixing bowl.
  2. And then, beat on low speed until moistened. Beat on medium for 2 minutes.
  3. Next, pour half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Cover with remaining batter; cut through with a knife to swirl. Bake at 325 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  4. For glaze, combine confectioners’ sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over warm cake.
  5. Honey Bun Cake is ready to serve!
