Honey Bun Cake
This is a very easy and simple yellow cake recipe blended with unsweetened applesauce and sour cream. This recipe yields 21 servings.
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow or white cake mix
- 2/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 egg whites
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
Directions
- First, combine dry cake mix, egg whites, sour cream and applesauce in a large mixing bowl.
- And then, beat on low speed until moistened. Beat on medium for 2 minutes.
- Next, pour half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Cover with remaining batter; cut through with a knife to swirl. Bake at 325 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
- For glaze, combine confectioners’ sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over warm cake.
- Honey Bun Cake is ready to serve!
