Chocolate Applesauce Cake
A sweet and delicious chocolate cake blended with applesauce for one super indulging treat! This recipe yields 15- 16 servings.
Ingredients
- 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Directions
- First, cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Next, add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- And then, combine dry ingredients; add to the creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan.
- Meanwhile, combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter.
- Lastly, bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
